Alexa Johansen, Ph.D.
Hey there! It's Alexa, your friendly editor. We can start with some of the basics: I was born and raised in Northern California to a multicultural family; my mother is Mexican and my father is German. I moved to Southern California back in 2010. Now, I reside in Los Angeles with my husband, Matt, our two foster sons, and our rescue dog, Ellie. The five of us are besties. The values Matt and I hold highest are integrity, authenticity, faith, hospitality, and creativity.

But, you also might want to check my credentials... Let's dive into that, too! I received my doctorate degree in the field of Higher Education from Azusa Pacific University. I hold a Master's degree in Literature from Loyola Marymount University, and a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from California State University Long Beach.

I was a professor of rhetoric at Loyola Marymount University, a professor of composition at Life Pacific University, and a professor of writing at Azusa Pacific University. I oversaw a First-Year Seminar curriculum on critical thinking, which quickly gained a standing among the Top 20 (out of Top 100) rankings in the US News and World Report in 2018. Quite frankly, I had an absolute blast in the field of higher education. I loved empowering students and drawing out their strengths. I also had way too much fun rebuilding a required curriculum for 1,2000 students. My strengths in strategy, organization, and writing were fully activated!
Personal Interests
Though credentials are important, I also believe in holistic well-being. It was my own creative writing and artistry that carried me through my excessive amount of education.
I have been writing stories since I could spell and crafting poetry since the 4th grade. I learned the art of watercolors in 9th grade, and embroidery in 19th grade. Creativity is incredibly important to me, and I aim to foster spaces of freedom and confidence where other creatives can release their own visions in any form---but especially in writing!
When I'm not at my editorial desk or art table, you'll find me hand-in-hand with my husband in the mountains. We absolutely come alive when we're hiking, climbing, or backpacking through God's beautiful creation.
Also, you should know I laugh really loud.

GoldScriptCo, is all about supporting and championing writers. To me, there is nothing more purposeful and energizing than partnering with someone who has a writing project before them.
who do you love and serve?
1. Authors of all genres.
2. Students in pursuit of any/all academic levels and majors. (I have my Ph.D., as well as seven years' experience as a professor.)
3. Business professionals from all fields. (Whether it's a presentation, report, or curriculum, I'm here for it!)
why should a writer choose to work with you?
I care about the writer even MORE than the writing project (which is quite impressive... because I come ALIVE when I am invited to uptake a supportive role alongside you in your writing process). I will not only lift you up, hold you accountable, and carry you through to your goals, but I'll also look for every opportunity to equip you for success even when my role as your coach, editor, and/or publisher is complete.
